17 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. 18 I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. 19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together: 20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
Isaiah 41:17-20
1 INTRODUCTION
I pray this study be an encouragement to you who are seeking perfection, who are seeking that completed perfection that’s going to happen to God’s 144,000 before the second coming. I know that I myself, everyday, seek the Lord for a higher revelation of Jesus Christ and a deeper understanding of my own heart. I still see iniquity in myself, and I still have the daily struggles of seeking the Lord on how to be rid of these things. I see the iniquity, but I also know God has given me the tools that will set me free from all of it. Years ago I learned a concept that if you can understand a thing, you can more readily help the Lord in letting this happen to you – if you can see and understand what needs to be done, you can be in a place that these things will come about easier, if you’re prepared, if you know. We can’t live at the end of the world, know what we know, and not be prepared for what God has for us, or be prepared for what’s coming at the end.
There are three things that I would like to cover in this study. One: As I have looked at Calvary and seeking the Lord, again, for a higher revelation, the Lord has begun to show me things that took place on that day – I want to share those with you. Leading up to that day, I always think of Gethsemane, and there are concepts concerning Gethsemane I want to share with you. But I also want to talk about the end of the world, the end of all things. I can’t help but believe with all my heart that’s going to happen in my lifetime. If it is, I would like to better understand my part in it, if I’m going to have a part. I seek the Lord to know what He would have me do, who would He have me speak to, what would He have me say – should I even be telling this to everyone around me or not – what should I be doing? And again, I think if I could understand the principles concerning the end of time, I could better understand what God is doing with me and how to allow these things to happen. Now that’s where I’m at and I pray, again, that this study be a blessing to you; that some of these questions be answered for you as the Lord answered them for me.
2 EARTHLY WISDOM
To begin with, one thing the Lord just pointed out to me deals with "wisdom" – this is where I want to begin. For years we have seen that "wisdom" is Christ – the wisdom of God is Christ. But "wisdom," looking at it earthly, is the serpent. Do you remember where Christ said, "Be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove"? (Matthew 10:16) You see, earthly wisdom is seen in the serpent – that is why, in 1 Peter 5, Peter wrote:
1 Peter 5:6-9 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth [cares] for you. 8 ¶ Be sober, be vigilant; because [for] your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh [walks] about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, ...
Here the devil is seen as a roaring lion and yet Christ in Revelation is the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5). You see, here we have the devil and Christ both seen as a "lion" – one sanctified, one unsanctified. Well, it isn’t that far of a stretch then to see the "serpent" as wisdom. Christ is God’s wisdom; the serpent symbolizes man’s wisdom. That is why it is "crooked"; that is why it "eats dust" – see, all of those things concerning a serpent reveal the man, the old man. Depending on who you’re listening to, where you’re deriving your wisdom – the wisdom you’re getting from Christ or the wisdom you’re getting from the serpent inwardly – is causing you to understand the way you do. If you can see things through God’s eyes and receive His wisdom, you’ll have His understanding, but if you’re seeing things through earthly eyes, you’re going to have the understanding of the serpent.
Consider Abraham: When Abraham was told to sacrifice his son, what about that? When He was told to sacrifice his son, when God was telling him that, I want to read to you what is written about Abraham in Hebrews, chapter 11 – reading from verse 17:
Hebrews 11:17-18 17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy [your] seed be called:
In other words, he knew that Isaac would bring forth children and yet here God was telling him to offer his son and kill him – put him to death. Verse 19:
Hebrews 11:19 19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
Well, consider this with me: Abraham, knowing his seed would come through Isaac, is told, "Offer your son." Had Abraham looked at it earthly, he would have said, "Well, God isn’t telling me to do that, because my seed comes through this boy and if I kill him that will never happen. God has told me the seed comes through him, therefore for me to put him to death – this cannot be God telling me this." But on the other hand, if Abraham was to look at it through heavenly eyes, which he did, he concluded that, "If God is going to have me kill him and yet my seed comes through him, then He’s able also to raise him from the dead." You see, he hoped against hope; he knew the Lord had given him both instructions: Your seed will come through Isaac, but now it’s time to put him to death – and Abraham remained obedient to God when he was tried – notice in Hebrews 11, Abraham was tried by God.
Let me take this to Genesis, to this very story of Abraham and Isaac – chapter 22:
Genesis 22:1-5 1 ¶ And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. 2 And he said, Take now thy [your] son, thine [your] only son Isaac, whom thou lovest [whom you love], and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of [which I’ll tell you of]. 3 ¶ And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. 4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. 5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye [you] here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
Interesting that he tells the men who were with him, "We’re going to go up the mountain to worship. We will both be back down to you," and it was on "the third day" he lifted up his eyes and saw the place afar off. I think this is what Christ was referring to when He said, "Abraham rejoiced to see my day, and he saw it and was glad." I think spiritually, Abraham lifted up the eyes of his understanding on the third day, just the way we do on the third feast day – on that third feast day where you open the eyes of your understanding because you enter the Promised Land and I’m going to tell you, when I saw the truth of abiding in Christ and entered the Promised Land, I began teaching in these studies – I never understood how God was going to perfect a people, but now I see light at the end of the tunnel, you see? I lifted up the eyes of my understanding and saw afar off, and I know that is what happened to Abraham – he was so sure before he went up that hill that he and his son would both come down.
Now in his mind, he’s thinking, Well God can raise him up, and he saw it happen in a figure, but the way God fulfilled the promises and the way the Lord tried Abraham was not the way Abraham had imagined it. He ended up never killing his son, but lifting the knife and the angel speaking to him and stopping it. He had a willingness to do it, but he never had to follow through with it. Now, he made the choice – He could have listened to the inward "serpent," that earthliness, and said: If I do this, the promise of God will not be fulfilled, therefore God cannot be telling me to do this. But he knew the Lord was telling him to do it, just like he knew the Lord had given him the initial promise. And he chose to look at it through heavenly understanding – heavenly eyes, I should say, gave him heavenly understanding, and he is no different than us – in fact, he’s the father of our faith. Let’s read what James says about the two "wisdoms" – in James chapter 3, verse 13:
James 3:13-18 13 ¶ Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew [show] out of a good conversation [or conduct] his works with meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye [you] have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth [descends] not from above, but [get the three things: it] is earthly, sensual [or natural], devilish. 16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
Now consider the trial, or trials the Lord is giving you. What’s happening in your life? Are you struggling financially? Struggling on the job? Has someone said something about you that now you’re upset? You can’t see things the same way doctrinally? How are you responding to the trial that has been given you? Are you seeing it through the serpent’s eyes, or through God’s eyes? The understanding that you have – is it creating strife and every evil work? Is it natural, sensual? Is it devilish? You see, what is happening to you? Has the Lord given you a trial that is bringing out the worst in you?
I can only speak for myself and I know, through my trials, I am learning to trust God and to keep a heavenly view of what’s going on – to see it from the heavens, realizing again, God is my shield. If anything pierces through and touches me, God has allowed that, and He is trying to help me see what it is that makes me angry, what makes me impatient, what makes me jealous, what makes me envious – you see, all of those feelings, all of those things that take place with us, if we can only understand why. First you have to see it through God’s eyes. If you look at it through the serpent’s eyes, you’ll have ulcers... you won’t be able to sleep at night... you’ll be angry... you’ll be bitter... you will hold a grudge – and if that is happening to you (and you know whether it is or not) then face the facts like James says: Don’t lie against this. The wisdom that comes from God is first peaceable; it’s easy to be entreated, you see. Look at your own heart; discern where the problem areas are so the Lord can heal you of it. That is our responsibility; that is why the Lord is allowing these things to take place. Listen, I could stand here and make a list of names, and I could begin to show you these are things I’m seeing in these people. I know I don’t have to do that – I know you know who you are. What I need to worry about is myself, and recognizing when that is happening to me.
3 MINISTRY
Recently I’ve had two or three incidents that just made me feel belittled, and it made me feel unwanted, less than – and it drives me to the scriptures; it drives me to my knees in prayer, and I do find comfort and encouragement in the scriptures, recognizing that as long as I’m doing what I’m doing with "pure hands" (a pure motive), that the Lord is going to bless that, and I need to have my loins girded with leather and stand strong in the faith that God has given me. You know, recently when I have looked at this ministry, DTG Ministries, I began that looking at the "deep things of God" and I also wanted to include, Well I’m declaring the gospel – DTG Ministries. But then I realized something else: This is a "3-D" ministry. The Lord is helping me determine the gospel, declare the gospel and then defend the gospel – this ministry is in each place. That is how I live my life: Seeking the Lord to know what is truth, and then declaring to those of you who have ears to hear what God has taught me, and then defending the truth as it is in Jesus Christ.
Let me tell you something – it’s one thing to defend a doctrine because you see it intellectually in the book, and you want to believe this. It’s another thing to defend it when you know God has told you this – and when people come against that, they have just hit the wall; it goes no further. When I know God has revealed truth to me, by God’s grace, I am going, not only to determine what it is; declare what it is, but defend what it is, and I know the Lord has called me to do this. I’ve said in past studies that we are born not knowing God – babies do not know God. Because we don’t know God, we do not know our value to God. Not knowing our value to God creates in us a desire to find value where we can. Now, I want you to imagine this with me: Imagine Jesus Christ steps up beside me and He wraps His arm around me, and He just pulls me up next to Him and just squeezes me up next to Him. Now imagine me standing here, Christ beside me, holding me – and you coming against what I’m teaching. Do you think it would matter at all to me? What about my haircut? What about my clothes? What about anything? Listen, what you think about it would fall to the ground, because the Savior is embracing me and I know He accepts me. You see how the void is made full? Imagine me sitting on my heavenly Father’s lap and God Himself holding me and talking to me. Do you think it matters anymore what anyone else thinks? Do you think it matters if you’re mad or you’re bitter? Do you think I’m crazy and too far out in left field – do you think that matters at all? It doesn’t matter.
The Lord is using this ministry and, for those of you who have ears to hear, He will heal every wound that you have – He will not disappoint any of us. And I’m here to tell you, these concepts work – it changes you. Hallelujah!! That you got angry. Hallelujah!! That you can see the bitterness. Hallelujah!! If you’re recognizing the problems – because they can be dealt with – especially if you don’t agree doctrinally. If you don’t agree doctrinally, sit down with us – let’s talk it over. Listen with an open heart; seek the Lord on your knees – but the instant you shut that door and begin to get angry, then you’ll begin to be bitter and you’ll begin to resent, and the work of God stops on a dime right there. He cannot go any further.
4 BEATITUDES
I want to show you something that Christ taught in the Sermon on the Mount, and I want to read the beatitudes – I want to read verses 1-9, because in those scriptures He gives you seven descriptions of the type of character we have to have in order to grow in the knowledge of God. After verse 9, what He describes are outward things – things outside of your control... persecution and so on. But in verses 1-9, Matthew 5, let’s read this together:
Matthew 5:1 1 ¶ And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
And this word "went up" is [305] – He ascended up into a mountain which, if you can see the spiritual picture of mount Zion and how the 144,000 are with Him on Mount Zion, having the character of God written in their forehead, notice: He went up into a mountain, and who came to Him? His disciples. But in Matthew 8:1, when He was come down from the mountain, the "multitudes" followed Him – and that is just simply a picture I wanted you to see, that when Christ ascends up into the mountain to teach, we want to be there – we want to be in that place; we want to be His disciples.
Matthew 5:2-3 2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, 3 ¶ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Poor in spirit" – the opposite of that is to be a rich man. In other words, you’re rich – you don’t have need; you think you’ve got all the answers. "Poor in spirit" means you know you don’t have the answers, and you need help.
Matthew 5:4 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
"Mourning" comes next. The mourning is because you see where you are; you see that you need to progress more – you need to be more like Christ, and it isn’t happening. You realize you don’t have the answers; you mourn over where you are.
Matthew 5:5 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
When I think of "meek" I go, in my mind, to Numbers 12, where Moses was the meekest man of all the earth – how God would speak to him mouth to mouth and, when I looked that up in Numbers in the Hebrew, it meant "one who is more willing to receive an injury than to give one." (Numbers 12:3, 8) You’re poor in spirit, you’re mourning over where you are; you’re meek, verse 6:
Matthew 5:6-7 6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. [Now they are hungry and thirsting for God’s understanding – that’s what "righteousness" is.] 7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
"Merciful," in Psalms 123, is defined from God to you when He gives you understanding. For me, to be merciful toward you is to reveal that understanding He has given me – see, it’s two different things. God will show you mercy and give you understanding – I will have mercy on you because I have understanding, and I will reveal that understanding.
Matthew 5:8-9 8 Blessed are the pure in heart [their motives are pure]: for they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall [they’ll] be called the children of God.
"Peacemaker" – this is the only time this is in the Bible and it means: Someone who brings forth peace. This is defined in Isaiah 32:17:
Isaiah 32:17 17 And the work of righteousness [the work of God’s understanding] shall [will] be peace; and the effect of righteousness [God’s understanding] quietness and assurance for ever.
Blessed are those who bring forth peace, for they’ll be called the children of God. "Poor in spirit" means you realize you don’t have all the answers. My mind goes to Matthew 24: The gospel will be preached; when you hear it, when you see the abomination that makes you desolate, take nothing with you – all of those things taught before are wrong. Blessed are you people who are poor in spirit – the next thing you’re going to do is mourn over where you are and manifest meekness. Imagine: Imagine yourself more willing to take an injury than to give one. Listen, I know some of you out there – it’s like people are walking on eggshells to be around you, afraid you’re going to be offended, and off you go mad. Blessed is the person who realizes he doesn’t have the answer. Blessed is that person who wants something more out of Christ – a deeper effect, and you reach that place where you’re more willing to take an injury than to give one. You see, now you hunger and thirst after God’s understanding.
It’s interesting that Christ sets up, in the Sermon on the Mount, this is where He begins – He defines the attitude of the heart. We need a doctrinal understanding of God in order to have it – the beatitudes must be a reality in our life. After we have the doctrinal understanding, the Lord is going to heal us emotionally. What should my attitude be then? Same thing – the beatitudes again... I have to realize I don’t have the answers. Where are you getting your answers? From psychologists? Psychiatrists? Who’s helping you understand yourself, because unless they’re pointing you to Calvary and the Son of God’s death on that cross, they cannot give you ultimate healing. They’re putting band-aids on the problem. Now you can spend your day in front of Dr. Phil listening to that, or you can spend your time on your knees seeking the Lord to unravel the depth of your heart – what are you going to do? Realize: I don’t have the answers; I want something more. Come to that place – I don’t have the answers; I want something more. Let that develop a "Moses-like" meekness where God can speak to you mouth to mouth and then hunger and thirst after God’s understanding, and let Him fill you with truth, you see. This attitude we need to keep at all times before God, not only to have the doctrinal truth instilled in us, but then to allow the Lord to take that and heal us emotionally.
5 NUMBERED WITH TRANSGRESSORS
Now let’s take this and turn it to Calvary and the Lord Jesus Christ. I can’t think of Calvary without also considering Gethsemane, and recently the Lord has unraveled some things for me. For those of you who have been listening to the studies, you’ll remember discussions on these things before, but now I have a surety of heart of what these things mean, and I want to share these with you. I want to ask you to turn to Hebrews 5 and I want to read beginning at verse 7 with you:
Hebrews 5:7-8 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from [out of] death, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
How many times have we read that text, or sang that along with David Espinosa, and not really grasped the meaning of what he was saying? I want to connect a verse with this – this verse unlocks the whole Gethsemane-Calvary thing for me. Turn to Luke, chapter 22, reading from verse 37:
Luke 22:37 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished [5055] in me, ...
This word "accomplished" is [5055] – it’s from the same word "perfect" or "complete." This that is written must be accomplished in me, and then he quotes what is written – Isaiah 53:12.
Luke 22:37 ... And he was reckoned among the transgressors [then He states]: for the things concerning me have an end [5056].
The things concerning Me have an end... Now let me read it again just to make it clear:
Luke 22:37 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written [in Isaiah 53:12] must yet [has to] be accomplished in me, And he was [I’ve got to be] reckoned among the transgressors: for [because] the things concerning me have an end.
Hebrews 5:7 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up [both] prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from [out of] death, ...
Before Gethsemane ever took place, in Luke 22:37, Christ makes the statement: "I’ve got to be numbered with the transgressors. Isaiah 53:12 has to be fulfilled in My life." What does it mean to be "numbered with the transgressors"? Does He mean people have to look at Me and think I’m a transgressor? If that were the case, then it was already fulfilled because the Pharisees already said He was a Sabbath breaker, so what did He mean? He meant God has to number Me among the transgressors; I have to be reckoned among the transgressors. Well, how could that be if He didn’t sin? There is only one way that He could be numbered among the transgressors – God would have to separate from Him. Now, in past studies I have said I didn’t think He knew God would separate from Him when He went to the cross. Now I see the truth: He did know it – He knew He would be made to be sin, and if He doesn’t sin, what is going to make Him sin? There’s only one thing: God would separate from Him. I know (I believe it’s in John, chapter 8) He says, "Which of you convinces me of sin?" so He knew He was not sinning before God. He knew He would have to be numbered among the transgressors; therefore, I believe He knew God would separate from Him.
So let’s go to Gethsemane. When He is praying in Gethsemane, "Father, take the cup" – what cup? Me becoming sin. Now why does He need to become sin? One reason is so that we can look at the cross and see what "sin" is. The symbols: Nakedness, crown of thorns, now God separates, the death of the old man. But another thing that we see is that if God separates from His Son – Father why have you forsaken Me – He is showing us the value we have to God. In other words, Christ was His only begotten Son – if He is willing to separate from Him so I can see the love of God, I must be as valuable to Him as Christ! He forsook Him to show me, hence, helping me see my value. Now go back to Gethsemane – "Father take the cup; You can do all things"... In other words: There are other ways for You to show them You love them. There are other ways for them to see what sin is. There are other ways for them to see their value. Father, You can do anything – take this cup from Me. See, now that makes sense to me why He would pray that. If He were praying to pay a debt, see, it wouldn’t make sense – only He could have paid the debt. He wasn’t dying to pay a debt! He was dying to reveal God’s love – that is why: "Father, take that cup. You can do all things, Father... Take the cup." In other words, find some other way. Manifest Your love; let them see sin some other way. So the Father doesn’t take the cup – three times He prays the prayer. He is then pressed – blood comes out of His pores, you see, sweat like great drops of blood. According to Hebrews 5:7, He was praying to Him who could save Him out of death. What death? The spiritual death – the death He knew He was going to face to be made sin. It wasn’t literal death. He wasn’t saying, "Oh, Father, resurrect Me.... Oh Father, save Me out of the sin. I will become sin.... save me out of that death." And God heard Him in that He feared.
You and I are in no different of a place – Father save us out of our death. Had Christ listened to the serpent and not looked at it through heaven’s eyes, He wouldn’t have done it. But that picture in The Passion movie that shows Him pray in Gethsemane, and stand up and then step on the serpent’s head – that is a beautiful symbol of what took place. Consider it....He overcame the serpent when He made that decision to become sin for humanity and go to the cross. When that man made that decision and stood up, and the multitudes came to take Him, they now were taking the "Lamb of God." He knelt to pray as the "bullock"; He went out of that garden as the "Lamb." He had made the decision to be perfectly obedient to God – no different than Abraham, you see? No different than you and I – to let the Lord deliver us from death, and He was heard in that He feared.
6 HE IS THE REASON
Let’s go back to Hebrews 5:
Hebrews 5:9 9 And being made perfect [or complete], he became [came to be] the author [159] of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
See that word "author"? That number is [159] in the Strong’s – it is not "author" – it means the reason or the cause. "Being made complete, He came to be the cause, or the reason, of eternal salvation unto all that will obey Him." Let’s take all of these scriptures and just package it up: Christ, with strong crying and tears appeals to the Father to save Him out of death. He makes the decision to go through, being made perfect, see. Once He makes that decision, being obedient to God through the things which He suffered, now being made perfect, He walks out of that garden and, by following the Lord’s instruction and being obedient, doing even those things He didn’t want to do, He came to be the reason or the cause of our being delivered from the lie.
You see, I love that, and if you tie it in with everything being stated in this section of scripture in Hebrews 5 – let me just tie this in for you... Let me start a few scriptures back and just read to the end of the chapter, and show you what He is saying – let’s start at verse 4:
Hebrews 5:4-10 4 And no man taketh [takes] this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. 5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art [You are] my Son, to day have I begotten thee [you]. 6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art [You are] a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. [Here’s why: ] 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from [out of] death, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though he were a Son ["being"... King James put "he were a Son"... "Though being a Son"], yet learned he obedience by [from] the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect [and complete, becoming the Lamb], he became [came to be] the author [reason] of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; 10 ¶ Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
Why? Because He can bring ultimate healing – He is a high priest of God. You see, it is one thing to be a "priest" – you’re abiding. It’s another thing to be a "high priest" – to be able to bring healing to someone else. Well, how can I do that? It’s because I’ve been healed myself, and that is what Paul is bringing out. Christ was obedient unto His Father and came to be the reason, the cause of eternal salvation to mankind because of His obedience. God therefore ordained Him a high priest after the order of Melchisedec, you see. Christ is making us kings and priests, and your priesthood will be after the order of Melchisedec too, because you are not in the lineage of Levi, just as He was not in the lineage of Levi. If He is going to be a priest, if you are going to be a priest, it has to be after the order of Melchisedec, where God calls you that. Why is He going to do that for you? Because you remained obedient through the things which you suffered, you learned obedience and you become the cause of salvation – you can deliver a message to somebody, point them to Jesus Christ, give them explanation and help them have a higher revelation of Christ.
7 IT IS FINISHED
Now I want to turn back to Luke 22:37 again, and I want to tie some other scriptures in with this. First is Luke 22:37:
Luke 22:37 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished [5055] in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the [because] things concerning me have an end [5056].
All right, Matthew 27, verse 46:
Matthew 27:46-48 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou [have you] forsaken me? 47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth [is calling] for Elias [Elijah]. 48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge [sponge], and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
OK, notice: He realized God has forsaken Him, making Him sin and He drinks the vinegar... and we just read in Luke 22 that He knew He would be numbered with the transgressors.
John 19:28-30 28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished [5055], that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith [said], I thirst. 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge [sponge] with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished [5055]: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Do you still have any doubt what He was talking about when He said, "It is finished"? Do you have any doubt? You see, He knew He would be numbered with the transgressors – He cries out, "Why have You forsaken me?" and takes the vinegar. John said He knew the scripture was fulfilled that all things would be accomplished, and He took the vinegar and said it’s [5055] – it’s finished. What’s finished? He had fulfilled everything: "Things concerning Me have an end," see. "I have to be numbered with the transgressors – things concerning Me have an end." He knew He had fulfilled the scriptures and things were now made complete.
I now feel like I have scriptural evidence as to Christ’s death on the cross, why He died when He did, when He knew He was forsaken of God – He knew He was numbered with the transgressors; He knew the scriptures were fulfilled, and I believe that’s what He was talking about. And as you read the scriptures, you’ll learn that some were amazed that He had died so soon (Mark 15:44) – and I think back where He made the statement, "No man takes my life from Me – I lay it down. I have authority from God to lay it down and I have His authority to take it back." (John 10:18) That man died – He gave up the spirit – into Thy hands I commend My spirit – trusting that God would raise Him out of death, being obedient even unto death through the things which He suffered, He came to be our reason for eternal salvation. And consider this: Not another person in the universe could have done what He did because of who He is. The only begotten Son of God’s death on that cross meant God loves you. If I or some other person had died for that reason, it wouldn’t mean the same. Why? Because Jesus is His only begotten Son, and for the only begotten Son of God to die – allowed of God to die, and there be no retaliation – that means something! Do you know what it means? He loves you. How much? As much as He loves His only begotten Son. He loves you as much as if He had birthed you Himself – that is what the death of Christ means. And that is what it means in Philippians – I’ve got to include this too:
Philippians 2:5-11 5 Let this mind [or way of thinking] be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery [something to be grasped] to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation [but emptied himself], and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion [likeness] as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore [That is why] God also hath [has] highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Why? There is no other name under heaven given us by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12) – why? Because only Christ can manifest to you the passion of a Father’s love, because He really was the Son of God and that is why every knee should bow to Christ – why? Because when you bow to Christ and what He did, you’re acknowledging the love of the Father, and the old man will be slain. Every tongue confesses that He is Lord – why? To the glory of the Father – it manifests the Father’s love. No one in the universe could have done what He did because of who He is... He is forever the only begotten Son of God, and He is our author of eternal salvation – Listen... – to those who will obey Him.
8 WHY PARABLES
Recently, I sought the Lord for a better understanding of His character...In prayer, I just sought the Lord – you know: What exactly, what part of Your character do I need to see? What can I see now? And what can I understand? Help me Father see who You are. And immediately, what comes to mind is Proverbs 25:
Proverbs 25:2 2 ¶ It is the glory of God to conceal a thing [word]: but [it is] the honour of kings is [or glory of a king] to search out a matter [word].
Well, instantly I thought of – Well, what about those who don’t search it out. What about people who aren’t taking the time to search it out? Does that mean they’re not a king? I know Christ is going to make me a king and a priest – we’ve just covered that priesthood, being able to bring healing. What about being a king, and why in the world would it be God’s character to hide a word? Christ answers this in Matthew 13, starting at verse 10:
Matthew 13:10-11 10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given [to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven].
Salvation is by faith – as God increases your faith, the result is the salvation of your soul. Faith is what God is teaching you; the mysteries of the kingdom are what He teaches you. To these people, it wasn’t given to know the mysteries – why?
Matthew 13:12 12 For whosoever hath [has ears to hear], to him shall be given [more truth or knowledge], and he shall have more abundance [he’ll have more abundance of understanding]: but whosoever hath not [does not have ears to hear], from him shall be taken away even that he hath [has].
And I don’t think that’s knowledge – I think that’s ears to hear – based on how well you’re listening. If you are developing an attitude of not listening at all, you’re going to lose even what you do have.
Matthew 13:13-15 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias [Isaiah], which saith [says], By hearing ye shall [you’ll] hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall [you’ll] see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
All of this is based on the person – they are the ones closing their minds off to what they are being taught. As Christ gave the message and they closed Him off, as they closed their eyes – they heard, they would see and see not; they would hear and hear not. What He is saying is: It isn’t that they didn’t understand, they wouldn’t understand. Go back and read that real close and you’ll see that that’s true – that was a fact – they did not want what He had to say. He says when they did that they were fulfilling what Isaiah said, and I believe it’s what Isaiah said in Isaiah 6. Now I want you to turn to Isaiah 6, and I want to read this chapter because it deals with the end and I want to show you how.
9 BEYOND THE VEIL
Starting at verse 1:
Isaiah 6:1-2 1 ¶ In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain [two] he covered his face, and with twain [two] he covered his feet, and with twain [two] he did fly.
We have gotten into this in the past, looking at Isaiah 6 and the year King Uzziah died – He was the king who forced himself into the temple with the incense – was going to burn incense, and God struck him with leprosy. If you’ll go back in past studies, these are things already discussed. What I want to show you now is something new to me. Consider Isaiah sees the Lord sitting on His throne, high and lifted up, above it were seraphim. Above what? Above the throne – He is showing you a picture of the Ark of the Covenant. These "seraphim"... this word, if you go back to the root of this word, it simply means to burn, to make burn. "Seraphim" means a burning thing or a burning creature. "Seraphim" are above the throne – the throne is the decision making process... the decision making of the Lord, where you decide – the throne. Above it were burning things. If what I’m saying is true – and we’re going to go back to Isaiah and read this, this means Isaiah has gone beyond the veil.
Now, right now I’m going to string some thoughts together, some verses, some concepts... I pray that you are advanced enough in your thinking to follow this through... that you’re familiar enough with the verses to know what I’m saying. For Isaiah to see the Lord "high and lifted up on His throne," he is beyond the veil. If he is beyond the veil, that means he sees the Ark of the Covenant. The "veil" is a symbol of our misunderstanding of God – that is what veils us, where we cannot see God. Once the veil comes down – and when does it come down? When you see the death of the old man – when you see and understand Calvary, the veil comes down, allowing you to enter into the holy of holies. You see, in that sanctuary is the holy place – you enter that, according to Exodus 19, when you begin to abide. You become a priest and you enter into the temple – but that’s only the holy place. Once the veil comes down, you enter the holy of holies. What is "holy"? Set apart – set apart from the world. The veil comes down – you now know the love of God by means of experience, and you go beyond the veil and you see the Ark of the Covenant.
In John the Baptist’s day, he said: I come baptizing with water, but there’s one among you who will immerse you in fire – Holy Spirit and fire. You go all through the gospels... that never happens until Acts, chapter 1 – Christ mentions that not many days from now, you’ll be immersed in fire – which takes place in Acts 2, the Day of Pentecost. Now follow me: All of the "feast days" are inward events of the heart of the believer. Pentecost is your fourth "feast day." Before you get there, the feast before it was fifty days before where you entered the Promised Land – you entered the holy place. But it took forty days of Christ teaching you that allowed you to ascend out of the lie, and ten days of remaining in the temple, praising and blessing God that He now can give you holy spirit, where your mind... you are in the holy of holies – and He immerses you in "fire." This is seen in Revelation 8 where the angel at the altar of incense, he’s going to pour the fiery coals into the earth – and what is happening? God is preparing His people to sound; He is preparing them to give the message of His love. Now also, the veil is come down – you can see the Ark of the Covenant; you see the Lord high and lifted up, and the "burning things" above His throne – the burning things. Revelation 18, the veil comes down; Babylon falls – what is next? You’re now made ready for the marriage supper of the Lamb. Well, what is that? Christ’s "eyes" are fire – His understanding is now going to consume out of us (if you’re at the marriage supper).
You see, all of these things roll up to paint a precious picture for the last generation. My character is "wood"; the words of Christ are seen as "water" or "fire." "Water" is doctrinal (Deuteronomy 32); "fire" consumes the wood – His "eyes," the understanding He possesses, are flames of fire. He’s going to sit and He’ll gird Himself, and you’ll sup with Him and you better eat what He puts before you and speak no guile, and let the truth that that Man possesses consume out of you what needs to be consumed – let Him turn it to ash. He’s going to straighten out the crooked places.
I want to go back now to Isaiah 6, and I want you to see this – I want you to see how the "burning things" bring Isaiah the "hot coal." He is going to declare that, I’m a man of unclean lips, and that is where the angel or the seraphim (the burning thing) puts the coal. What if he had said, "I’m a jealous man; I’m an angry man; I’m a bitter man; I’m a hard man"? Where would that coal have to be put? I struggle with my wife; I struggle with my husband; I can’t get along with this person; I can’t deal with that person – where does the coal need to be put in your life? I could say that "coal" is equivalent to the "eyes of Christ" – the understanding of Christ, as He is sitting and eating with you, and trying to make you in His image. Let’s go back to Isaiah 6.
10 GO AND TELL
Starting at verse 3:
Isaiah 6:3-8 3 And one [of the burning things or "seraphim"] cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD [YAHWEH] of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. [Now the King James has put "the whole earth is full of his glory." The way it actually reads: "His glory is the fulness of the whole earth." I love that.] 4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him [that burning creature -- the burning thing] that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 ¶ Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine [my] eyes have seen the King, the LORD [YAHWEH] of hosts. 6 Then flew one of the seraphims [burning things] unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath [has] touched thy [your] lips; and thine [your] iniquity is taken away, and thy [your] sin [is] purged. [Notice, the angel, the seraphim never touches it with his hand – he only touches it with "tongs" and that coal of fire burns out the iniquity and purges the sin of Isaiah.] 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Now, you see the connection so far? He sees the Lord "high and lifted up" – this is equivalent to the Day of Atonement where you go beyond the veil, you enter the marriage supper of the Lamb; you’re going to be immersed in "fire." The fire will consume the iniquity of your heart and make you whole – and going through the purging, the question is asked by the Lord, "Who will go for us?" and Isaiah says, "Here am I; send me" – not: I’m going to run out and go to every church I can and go talk to all my neighbors...no. "Send me. I will go as you send me – I’m now purged." You see, you’re right back to the "trumpets"... you’re right back to the coals being poured into the earth – the trumpets are being prepared to sound and I want you to see what the Lord says to this man – again, Isaiah, chapter 6:
Isaiah 6:9-12 9 ¶ And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. 10 Make the heart of this people fat [look at it again – go tell this people, make their heart fat], and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. 11 Then said I, Lord, how long? [I said, Lord, how long do you want me to do it? And this was the answer...] And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, 12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
King James put: "in the midst of the land" – that "in the midst" could be in the heart of the land. For me this was huge: I now see that when I give the message, just like Christ gave the message, they closed their eyes; their heart waxed fat; they chose not to hear – and this is what God is telling Isaiah to do after the purging. "Send me and I will harden their hearts; I’ll make their hearts fat; I will close their eyes – why? Because I know my message is going to contradict everything they believe" – and just like Christ said He was fulfilling that, so will we fulfill this very thing. And then Isaiah asks, "How long?" And the Lord says, "Until the land is utterly desolate, utterly wasted; until there is a great forsaking in the heart of the land."
For Scott Stanley, as I read that, I can’t help but see this message, this picture has got to expand and grow. People need to hear it and make a decision, and either humble themselves before God or let their heart be made fat, close their eyes and ears and their land become desolate. There must be a great forsaking in the land – a forsaking of what? A forsaking of the truth. Now, already, I know there are people out there who are rejecting the message that God has given us – just simply when they reject the Godhead truth. We don’t have to be giving them the Godhead, anybody can get the Godhead – when they reject that, they’ve rejected the truth God has given us. But there are people who need to hear what we have – are you ready to give that message? Are you experiencing healing to the point that you can share how that’s happened to you and give it to another person? Are you still stewing in your anger? Are you still upset? Are you still struggling and carrying a grudge and all of these things that happen? Are you getting along at home? You know, what’s happening here? Because if you’re listening to this tape and you even half-way understand what I’m talking about – you are responsible to do it.
The last verse in Isaiah 6 connects directly with Revelation 11, and I am not going to get into it except to say this: There will be those people who reject this truth who ultimately will see the error of their way and accept it. Because Isaiah 6 connects the way it does with Revelation 10 and 11, I know it’s talking about the end. In principle, it was fulfilled in Christ’s day – it will be fulfilled in our day. Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God – begotten in eternity past. He did not die to appease an angry God, except the angry god that is in the heart of every one of us. He died to show you that His Father loves you like He loves Him and that will heal you ultimately, if you accept it. You let go of those truths and you’re gone.... Cling to the lifeline! Let the Lord pull you all the way into the boat of salvation and be healed, for God’s sake! Be healed in Jesus’ name – let Him straighten you out and make you whole.
If you’re struggling with doctrines, let’s talk about it. By God’s grace I will try to remain civilized – I know there are people out there who can do a better job than I at remaining civilized. I want to help you – I want to be in harmony. I want you to grow – I want you to be whole, and be like Jesus Christ... that is our Savior. And it is my prayer to do what I can to reach out to you and help you in any way possible. I pray that you pray... I pray that you seek the Lord with all your heart because He will meet you where you are and He will help you if you’re poor in spirit, if you’re mourning for your state of your condition and you’re developing that meekness, and desiring to know God’s understanding – He will answer you. He will answer you, and it is His glory that is the fullness of the whole earth – I want that. I want the glory of God – I want to be full and complete, and I want to glorify Him in every way.
May God be glorified!
