Deuteronomy 32 (The Song of Moses)
1 Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain ...
4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
6 ... Is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?
10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. OPENING REMARKS
Ever since the last study I recorded and mailed out to everyone, I have been seeking the Lord that He would prepare His church, I could say His army, to go forward and give this message of His love. In past studies, I’ve tried to show how, it appears to me, that we have been at this time of the seventh seal. If you’ll look at the seals, understanding the Lord is opening the "sealed book" (which is our own mind, our own heart), when you look at that sixth seal, He shuts the heavens as a scroll – He rids you of your heavens so He can create a new heaven. At that seventh seal, He’s cleansing the earth with fire and I’ve realized that passing through the doctrinal understanding that we’ve been going through, the Lord has been closing our heavens, and we have reached a point where those truths can now be taken and the earth can be cleansed with fire. We can now be baptized in fire and I’ve been seeking the Lord that His church would be in that place of preparation, because He’s preparing us to sound the message, or trumpet the message of His love.
Of course, when I pray that prayer, I include myself. I want to be used of God to give the message – I don’t want to come this far and not be used of the Lord to declare His love of humanity to the world. But the Lord, in preparing me, has helped me see something about myself that needed to be changed drastically. I want to read some scripture taken out of 2 Timothy, chapter 2 – starting at verse 23:
2 Timothy 2:23-26 23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes [knowing that they gender strife]. 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men [gentle unto all], apt to teach, patient [or forbearing], 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil [diablos], who are taken captive by him at his will.
I just had meetings in Cleveland, Ohio, where the Lord helped me see myself – a lack of gentleness, a lack of meekness, a lack of patience – and please don’t think that I’m saying the questions generated in the meeting were foolish and unlearned questions. They were not, but even if they had been, my attitude could have been different. Now, this is huge for me because the next day, as I began to reflect on all that had happened and the Lord began to show me myself, I can remember a year ago, being in the same city, sitting in the same room, at the same table, reading the very scripture I just gave you, and realizing: I’m not doing that...I’m not teaching in gentleness, meekness, and so on, patience – I’m not manifesting that, to the extent that I know I could be doing in Christ. So a year later I’m still in the same place, still struggling to put away pride and self, and let the Lord change me – and I know that all of my ministry, I go on automatic and I take off with an attitude that I should not have. By God’s grace, that’s changing – by the grace of God, the message that I have will do the cutting – and not me by force, forcing this or cramming it, or getting in someone’s face that they might see as I see.
BECOMING POOR IN SPIRIT
So I want to begin this study with this principle: If we are to go forward and give a message of God’s love, and give the experience of how it’s changing us, there has to be a humility; there has to be a gentleness. You have to have patience to give the message that we have. Consider with me again, looking at the sixth seal, how the Lord closes your heavens – he blots out your sun. Let me back up a second – look at the fifth seal. The fifth seal, without getting into specifics and reading every ... putting that magnifying glass on it, let me tell you what’s happening. The fifth seal in your life ... when you come to that place where you know you can be perfected by God and you’re crying out, "How long, O Lord, will you not avenge me of these thoughts that are slaying me, these thoughts that are coming against me? Father, I want to be set free – I want to know the truth. Heal me. Bring me to a place of completed perfection of my faith." The Lord answers that prayer in the sixth seal – He steps in and He says, "OK, if you want to overcome, if you want to be like my only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, you have to understand the way He does, and think the way He does."
So, the way you have perceived Him, your "sun" is going to turn black as sackcloth of hair. You’ve got to see you haven’t been looking at it right – the way you’ve been perceiving this book is "red" – it’s your self. He turns the "moon" red as blood and all of the "stars," all of those concepts, heavenly truths, He just lets them fall to the ground and He closes your heavens like a scroll so He can create a new "heaven" – you can see God differently; you perceive His Son differently; you perceive this book differently. Let me give you another example of how the Lord tells us this – it’s in Matthew 24. He tells us, the gospel of the kingdom will be preached. When you see "the abomination that makes desolate"... now saying "the gospel of the kingdom will be preached... when you see this abomination of desolation" – there is an eon of time between when you begin to hear the gospel of the kingdom (which is abiding in Christ) that He can bring you to the place of recognizing the lie you were born with.
You see, that "lie" is the abomination that leaves you desolate. You cannot possess the true riches of God as long as you are perceiving through the lie that we have no value to God, and the only thing that gives me value is a human sacrifice – a human sacrifice will give me value to God. See, that’s the abomination that leaves you desolate. The gospel of the kingdom is going to be proclaimed – when you see the lie from the womb, flee, and take nothing out of your house. Consider – if I take nothing out of my "house," if I realize everything I have believed in my life was based on a lie, I need to challenge everything that I have believed. Jesus says, "Take nothing... flee and take nothing." Well, if I take nothing, I’m desolate; I have nothing – another way of stating that is in the beatitudes – that you be poor in spirit. You recognize you have got to come to the place that you recognize: Everything is probably wrong. First of all, I was believing a lie all of my life ... I didn’t realize it; I didn’t recognize it. Secondly, everyone who’s been teaching me is believing the lie too, and they’re seeing God through sinful eyes.
And when you come to the sixth seal, He blots out your sun, He changes the book and closes the heavens after He lets all of those stars fall to the ground, because He has got to make you new – He begins with your heavens. It is the "heavens" that affect the "earth." It is the "water" from heaven, the "light" from the sun that helps everything grow on this "earth," so the first thing, if you’re going to change the earth, you’ve got to change the heavens – and that’s exactly what He does.
DETERMINING THE EARTH
Now imagine... imagine a man who has had his world turned upside down. Imagine a man who realizes: Everything I’ve ever understood, everything that I thought was true, was based on a lie – everything, every doctrine! I can remember telling friends of mine that I now see there is nothing in denominationalism that’s accurate. They still see the angry God and that Jesus dies so God can forgive – that is how they perceive God because they don’t know their value to God, and all of their doctrines enforce the lie of their "no value." Well, imagine a man like myself, coming to a realization that everything needs to be changed, and then the Lord taking me and saying, "Go here, go there, go teach, go speak – begin to reveal what I’ve told you." Don’t think for minute that the impact you’re going to have on people is going to be totally positive – it isn’t going to be. I don’t care if you are meek and gentle and patient – you’re still depending on who you’re talking to and how they receive it. You’re going to create havoc.
I think of Moses when he went to Pharaoh. Moses approached Pharaoh – he wasn’t in his face, he was patient; he came in meekness, but he came in the power of the Lord – and it was the message Moses gave that cut Pharaoh. Now, the Lord, through the apostle Paul, tells us something about this in Romans (Romans 9:18) – there’s a principle here, something else I realized this weekend. The Lord will have mercy on whom He’ll have mercy, but He is going to harden whom He will harden. When He sent Moses to Pharaoh, the Lord knew Pharaoh would reject that truth – He knew Pharaoh would harden his heart. That is what He meant when He said, "Go tell him, but I’m going to harden his heart." The Lord knew the words spoken would harden his heart – so why go tell him? Because, in the Lord’s mind, Pharaoh’s time was up (Romans 9:17). He had had enough time that when Moses spoke the truth, it didn’t have to have that affect on him – Pharaoh did that to himself.
It’s no different than when he sent His only begotten Son before Caiphas, and Caiphas said, "Tell us plainly, are you the Son of the Living God?" And the Father moved on the heart of His Son to say, "Thou sayest it." When Christ said what He did, Caiphas ripped his garments. The Father knew what was going to take place, and He knew Caiphas would move on the only begotten Son of God to put Him to death. He had Christ say it anyway – He had His Son speak the truth in meekness, patience, gentleness – and the truth pierced Caiphas’ heart. The Lord will have mercy on whom He’ll have mercy, and He will harden whom He will harden. He knows before the message is given what is going to happen – He already knew what would take place. We are the ones who determine the type of ground the seed is planted in – God determines when it’s going to rain. God determines when He is going to have mercy and send the understanding to you that will generate life in that seed. God determines when it rains, but He will have mercy on whom He’ll have mercy and He will harden whom He will harden. We are the ones who determine the type of ground that’s going to receive the seed and the water, and the sunshine.
DRAWN OUT
I know we’re at this time of preparation – the Lord is cleansing us with fire. I want to say that, up until this time, I felt like I was going through this time of "silence in heaven" (Revelation 8:1). I felt like things were happening to me, the Lord was revealing things in me, things I thought I had put away a long time ago – and they were all coming back – and there were things happening to me that it would be an embarrassment to stand here and tell them to you, but God was helping me see myself. I could say that the things the Lord brought out in me were things, at one time, I had covered up using the Bible. For instance, I wouldn’t be "angry" because the scriptures say be angry and sin not, therefore, I’m going to keep myself from getting.... I’m not going to let you see my anger – be angry and sin not – yet the Lord is pulling me out from behind that mask and saying: When you don’t get angry, let’s let it be because you possess My Spirit, not because the Bible says so, and so now you feel like you have to do it. Let’s let it be the reality of the Spirit of Christ in your heart. But before He can replace and rid you of that anger, it has to manifest itself – you can see it and cry out to God and let Him consume it with the fire of His words, the fire from heaven.
I think, in Revelation 8, "the silence in heaven for half an hour" is seen in that principle – there is that silence from heaven. You know, I’ve got to share some verses with you in order to make this as clear as I can. Looking at the silence in heaven, in Revelation 8, let’s take this principle and turn to Psalms 28 – starting in verse 1:
Psalms 28:1-9 1 Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou [you] be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. 2 Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee [you], when I lift up my hands toward thy [your] holy oracle. 3 Draw me not away with the wicked [What if I put that inward and said wicked thoughts?], and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts. 4 Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert. 5 Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and [he will] not build them up. 6 Blessed be the LORD, because he hath [has] heard the voice of my supplications. 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth [rejoices]; and with my song will I praise him. 8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. [The Lord is strength to him, and the strength of salvation to his anointed Savior] 9 Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance [people bless your inheritance]: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.
Here in Psalms 28, we see the person crying out for deliverance, and if you can see that you’re delivered from the inward wickedness – not wicked people outside of you, but inward wickedness – then you see, when the Lord says that He will "destroy this and not build it up," He is going to rid us forever of the iniquity and the wickedness that causes us to move and do the things that we do, but first you have to see it. Be not silent to me lest I be like those that go down into the pit. When I worship, he says, with my hands toward your holy oracle, when I turn toward God’s holy oracle, toward God’s temple, toward God’s sanctuary... when I turn toward His sanctuary, my back is to the "east," and I am facing "west." I am ascending out of the east, out of self – seeking the Lord, reaching for God’s holy oracle. Save me, O Lord, as I turn toward your holy oracle – deliver me from the wicked thoughts, these times in my life when I don’t recognize Your works; when I deny Your working in my life.
I had an experience today as I was preparing this study. After having had my meetings in Cleveland and going through this process of understanding my own wickedness, my lack of patience, I realized a huge concept. Remember in Deuteronomy 32 (Deuteronomy 32:39), where the Lord says there is no God with me. I kill and I make alive; I wound, and I heal – that concept, for me, proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no outward god that we have called "Satan" and "Lucifer" – we’ve devised all of this Catholic teaching. It’s all come together to create this "being" that’s out here killing and maiming and wanting to destroy. God says, "No, there’s no god with me – I’m doing this." And I used to think, if the Lord was telling me, "Scott, I want you to go over here today; go to church today" – and I go to get in my car and I have four flat tires, I would think, well, Satan doesn’t want me to go to church. I realize now what actually is happening: The Lord is saying, "Scott, go to church. You’ve got four flat tires – to what extent are you willing to go to remain in my perfect will?" I realize they are tests and trials of God.
This morning I’m preparing to do this study – I want to get all my light situated, get everything right so that I can make this video, and one of these halogen lights goes out. At one time in my life, I would have said: Forget it – my wife is gone, I don’t have a car, I can’t drive up to get me another lamp. It’s snowing outside, ice on the streets – forget it. I’ll wait until she comes back and I’ll make it the next time she leaves – I’ll just wait... You see, that is the person who isn’t recognizing the works of the Lord. It isn’t "out there"; it’s in here {pointing to his head}. I can stand here and teach things about God, and turn right around and not recognize His own working in my life – why? Because I don’t have the doctrinal understanding of it. But then He makes the statement, "There’s no god with me. I kill, I make alive; I wound, I heal."
HE IS OUR SHIELD
That tells me that He is in control – He also, as we read, is our "shield." God is big enough and powerful enough to shield me from anything, and if something gets by Him and pierces me, it’s only because He let it. Why would He let it? Because He loves me and He wants me to see myself. This meeting in Cleveland – when I acted impatiently and did what I did – I can see the Spirit of the Lord in the whole thing... He was drawing me out. We’re going to read that in just a second when we read Psalms 30, but it was as if the Lord stepped aside, let the arrow pierce me, so He can draw me out – so that the next day, He could bring it to me again: Scott, look at this – look at your lack of meekness, gentleness, patience – look at this. How are you going to go give a message without the Spirit of Christ? You can’t – you can’t minister Christ without the Spirit of Christ. I learned a huge lesson there, but I also see, when I know the Lord is telling me: Make this study; record this study – I spent time on my knees in prayer before I ever came down to this place to do this study. I come down, the first light I turn on goes out, and I laughed – and I realized if I’m going to do what God wants me to do, I’m going to have to get my coat on, get all dressed up, walk to town, buy the light, come back, start again.
I had just prayed Lord, I’m giving this to you; I want you to help me make this. What’s the first thing He did? He sent me on a walk. Now, it isn’t like it’s miles – it was like three blocks, but I had to walk three blocks up, buy the light, come back and set it all up. By the way, when I got to the hardware store, they had one halogen light left, like what I needed, and I laughed again. You know, the whole thing – I see the Lord, now, working in my life in such a way that, before, I would have not seen those things. I took my cell phone with me and I called Woody, and I said, "You know, I’m so blessed because I’m reading between the lines," and I explained the whole situation to him. I want people to see, we have a loving God – He is shielding us, but He also is letting enough pass through that He might draw us out to heal us. Let’s go to Psalms 30, verse 1:
Psalms 30:1-3 1 I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast [you have] lifted me up [Look that up – its [1802]. You have drawn me out and you have not allowed my foes (enemies within my mind) to rejoice over me], and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. 2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee [you], and thou hast [and you] healed me. 3 O LORD, thou hast [you] brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast [you have] kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
By the grace of God, all of us can move in this experience, recognizing that the things happening to us, whether you lose a job, you lose your home, you have a wreck – you’ve wrecked your car, whatever it is – realize the Lord (Deuteronomy 32)... I am God, there’s no god with Me. I kill and I make alive; I wound, I heal. Let those words sink in. Recognize God is your shield – He’s big enough to stop anything from getting through, so therefore, what does come through is drawing you out. He’s going to draw you out from behind these Bible verses that you’ve been hiding behind so that the fire of His words can consume that sin and straighten out – pull that iniquity, straighten out the iniquity of your heart.
I want, more than anything, to give this message. I don’t want to come this far in my understanding and go through everything I’ve been through to get here, and not be used of God to declare the truth as it is in Jesus Christ. I want, in the love of God, to proclaim the love of God, and I want to see the impact it has on hearts. Again, now listen, God can’t turn your world upside down and send you out to tell another person, and it not create havoc – it will create havoc. But that person is determining what type of ground the water of God is falling on, you see? We’re not so much planting seed, we’re watering the seed that they have. People already believe in Jesus – people believe in God. You’re going to water that seed; you’re going to give Jesus’ water from heaven. Their Jesus seed will receive the understanding from God, and they will see the truth about Jesus. But just as God wreaked havoc in my understanding, it’s already happened to me – as I step out, I now realize what is happening to them.
Do you realize that God has taken everything that we’ve believed, everything, and shown us the folly of it? Think about it – He has shown us the folly of listening to man and letting people define the Bible for us, and like I stated in my meetings in Cleveland, it’s a lot easier to learn something if you’ve never heard it before, than to have to unlearn something and then replace it with the truth. Letting go of those things that we think are true, those things that we’ve clung to, letting go of it and letting the Lord replace it can be devastating. It’s scary as can be – it’s frightening. The Lord wants us to do it. Imagine the heavens closing – you lose all of this stuff you thought was right – the Lord says, "Hey, when you see the abomination that’s making you desolate, flee. Don’t take anything," and you now are desolate yourself... you’re desolate in that you possess no "riches." You can’t go back and take anything, and you truly become someone "poor in spirit." You truly become someone mourning over the way it’s been. Those beatitudes of Matthew 5 – those seven descriptions become a reality in your heart – the meek will inherit the earth. You see, as He brings out those truths in your heart, you truly become His child, you truly enter into the kingdom of God and in meekness and gentleness, a lot of patience, may we help others see as we do. May we help other people come to the reality of the truth that God loves them; Jesus died to manifest that love and the lie that we’ve been living can change; we can have a new foundation, a new spirit in Jesus Christ.
THE ALLEGORY
Now, I’m going to shift gears and I want to share with you a study, that for me, kind of, it helps to sum up all of these things – and this is the message I was actually going to give this weekend when I went to Cleveland, Ohio, and I never got around to it. And I can see why now, because all that took place, all that the Lord helped me see – I can now see how it applies in this message, having to do with being made "desolate" – desolation, and the folly of believing as we have wanted to believe. To finish off this video, let’s shift gears – let’s turn to Galatians, chapter 4, starting at verse 21:
Galatians 4:21-31 21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye [you] not hear the law? 22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. 24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth [genders] to bondage, which is Agar. 25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth [answers] to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. 27 For [Because] it is written [in Isaiah 54:1], Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath [has] many more children than she which hath [has] an husband. 28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was [are like Isaac was], are [we’re] the children of [the] promise. 29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now [well, this is the way it is now]. 30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture [what do the scriptures say]? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. 31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.
Now, I have taken the time to read this whole allegory that Paul brings out about Hagar and Sarah and Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael, because the Lord has helped me see another allegory in this allegory. Abraham brought forth two sons – one from Hagar, one from the wife that God initially gave him. Remember, by the way, when Rebecca comes into Isaac’s tent, she becomes his wife. When Hagar came into Abraham’s tent, she became his wife; she bore his child, Ishmael. But the wife God intended for that man was Sarah, and God had given a promise: Your seed will be as innumerable as the stars of heaven, and it wasn’t happening with Sarah – she wasn’t bearing children, so Abraham and Sarah took it upon themselves to make that promise come true, and the son they brought forth was a "son of the flesh." Now Paul says: We’re like Isaac, children of the promise, but let me give you another allegory here: We’re like Abraham. We have the thoughts, the truths that are to comfort us, that God wants us to have, and Sarah – and it’s through that He’s going to bring forth the "man-child" – His only begotten Son.
But we take another "wife" and we bring forth a "son," Ishmael, calling it "Messiah," calling it Christ – we devise our own messiah, and this messiah we devise through the flesh saves us from God’s wrath. We devise a messiah who comes to this earth because God is so angry at us sinners, He’s got to have a human sacrifice... Something has to die before God can forgive me. That is the "messiah" that I created through the flesh, and answers to "Old Jerusalem," not "new" – answers to "Old Jerusalem," who’s in bondage with her children. You see, the allegory Paul brings out is true, but so is this one. The messiah that we bring forth with each "wife" – one is a messiah of promise, the other one is one of the flesh. Now listen, this messiah that we create through the flesh, when you stand him up to the real one, the way the Lord describes it in Revelation 6: Well, this messiah you have, this son that you have is going to turn as black as sackcloth of hair; it’s nothing like the truth. He’s nothing like the true Messiah – this thing that you have created through Hagar. Where’d you pick up Hagar? In Egypt. Where’d you get those thoughts? From the world. He’s nothing like Messiah from New Jerusalem, who’s the mother of us all. He’s nothing like that. In fact, the Messiah I created through the flesh, when compared to the true – now listen – is so marred, more than any man.
Paul quotes Isaiah 54:1, when he says, See, Oh barren, you that did not bear, break forth into singing, you that did not travail, because you’re going to bring forth more children than the married wife – and I realized, when I went back and connected Isaiah 52 and 53 and 54, all of those things began to come together in a new way for me. That’s what I want to share with you. Let’s turn to Isaiah, chapter 52.
MADE DESOLATE
Reading from verse 13, the end of 52:
Isaiah 52:13-14 13 Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high [and if I were to put the meanings of those words in there: Behold my servant shall act wisely. He’ll be exalted and be lifted up and be very high]. 14 As many were astonied [astonished] at thee [you]; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
Now, I know that they took my Savior and beat Him – I know that. I know they pulled His beard out and they beat the man. Why did they do that? When He declared Himself to be the Son of God; when He stood up next to their fleshly understanding of Messiah, He didn’t match up. They were so angry at that man, that they marred Him. Why? Because, inwardly, their "messiah" was marred – their understanding of Messiah was so messed up that they took out their rage and anger on the true Messiah, and he states at that verse we just read, as many were astonished. That word "astonished" in the Strong’s is [8074] and it plays a key part in understanding Isaiah 52, 53 and 54 – a key part. I never saw before that that is the word the Lord has played off of to bring us the understanding of Messiah – "astonished."
Astonished [8074] to stun (or intransitively, grow numb) i.e. devastate or (figuratively) stupefy :-- make amazed, be astonied desolate (-ion, places), be destitute, destroy (self), (lay, lie, make) waste, wonder
If you look up [8074] in the Strong’s, you’ll see that it means to make desolate. Sound familiar? It makes you desolate – when you apply it to a literal piece of land, it makes it desolate – nothing is there. If you apply it inwardly to a human being, it means to shut their mouth – they’re "astonished." You bring them to the place of desolation. God says about His Son: Behold my servant. He’s going to be exalted (Isaiah 52:13); He’s going to be lifted up; He’ll be very high, but as many were astonished, because His visage was so marred, and His form more than the sons of men (Isaiah 52:14).
It isn’t this outward thing that’s marred – it’s the inward. It’s their understanding of Messiah that was marred. That is the way it is today. You see, if I take this literally, and I know it is literal – I know they beat Him up; I know they ripped His flesh. Something had to have happened more than just simply a beating, because when He went to carry His cross, someone else had to carry it for Him – He was struggling, He was falling down. He had been beaten, but why? Because their understanding was messed up! When I bring the true understanding of Jesus Christ to a person today, the messiah that they have created through the flesh is so marred, more than any man. The understanding of Messiah is so marred and you bring them the truth, and it shuts their mouths – they are left astonished. Let’s go to the next verse – 15:
Isaiah 52:15 15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall [will] shut their mouths at him: for [because] that which had not been told them shall they see [they shall see]; and that which they had not heard [8085] shall they consider.
Now notice, "they had not heard," that word is [8085] "had heard" – it means hear with intelligence – it means, in other words, to understand. That which had not been told them shall they now see. That which they had not understood, shall they now consider. He’ll sprinkle many nations. What do you mean "sprinkle"? "Sprinkle" is a symbol of teach – He is going to teach them; He’s going to sprinkle many nations, and that which they had not seen are they going to see – that which they had never understood before are they going to begin to consider. The true explanation of Christ will be an astonishment when this message is given – their understanding of Him is so messed up – so shall He sprinkle many nations, and what they’ve never heard before will they now consider. What they’ve never seen, now they’re going to see it, and it’s interesting, when you look at Isaiah 53:1:
Isaiah 53:1 1 Who hath [has] believed our report [8052]? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
"Who has believed our report" – this word "our report" is [8052]. The root of it is [8074] – astonishment or desolate. Now, if you look up this [8052] "who has believed our report" – Strong’s will tell you, well that word means doctrine, or a message, but it is a doctrine that leaves you astonished.
Isaiah 53:1 "Report" [8052] feminine passive participle of 8074 (make desolate); Something heard, i.e. an announcement: – bruit, doctrine, fame, mentioned, news, report, rumor, tidings
You see, that word, the root of it is to make desolate – it’s the message that leaves you desolate. Isaiah asks, "Lord, who has believed our message that leaves you desolate?" And then he goes on to give you Isaiah 53. Before he says that, look again at the end of Isaiah 52, verse 15:
Isaiah 52:15 15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him ... [kings will shut their mouths]
You see, that "shutting of the mouth" is a description of the word "astonished." Who shuts their mouth? "Kings" – who are "kings"?
Proverbs 25:2 2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing [1697] (word) [hide a word, to conceal it]: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter [1697] (word) [it’s the glory of a king to search it out].
Now, consider with me: Christ is going to sprinkle many nations – who will be astonished? Kings. Who are kings? These people who search it out; these people who search it out to seek the truth of it. Christ will sprinkle many nations; the kings will search it out and they are going to see what they’ve never seen before. They’re going to understand what they never understood before and it has to do with the Savior, because their Savior is so marred. Now, Isaiah 54:1:
Isaiah 54:1 1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst [you that did] not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst [you that did] not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate [8074 people – those who were made desolate and astonished] than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.
See, "children" are a picture of thoughts – "children" are a symbol of thoughts. You people who can bring forth the true Christ; you people who are astonished at the truth; you kings who are astonished, whose mouth is shut at the truth, the children you bring forth are going to be more than the children of the married wife through the flesh, as Paul describes it, again, in Galatians 4 – Hagar and Sarah. You see, if Hagar represents "Old Jerusalem," he says, Jerusalem which is now, which is in bondage with her children – well, who did Sarah represent? "New Jerusalem" – Sarah was a picture of New Jerusalem bringing forth the promised seed, just like Mary is a picture of New Jerusalem bringing forth the man child. Another aspect of it is – she’s a "virgin." The 144,000 are "virgins" dwelling in "New Jerusalem," you see, bringing forth the man child, the true Christ, and letting God build in us the true meaning of salvation and savior.
OUT OF PAGANISM
Now, one more thing he says in Isaiah 52 –he’s going to "sprinkle many nations." Turn to Ezekiel 36, verse 24:
Ezekiel 36:24-28 24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. 25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall [you’ll] be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall [you’ll] keep my judgments, and do them. 28 And ye shall [You’ll] dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall [you’ll] be my people, and I will be your God.
Where does He take you from? From among the "heathen," so He can sprinkle you with the truth about His Son. Consider with me: You come to the end of the book, you come to Revelation – there are two final cities: "Babylon" or "New Jerusalem." Babylon is a pagan city – Babylon is paganism. New Jerusalem is the truth. You’re either in one or the other. What does that mean? That means if you don’t understand the truth of why Christ died, in principle, you’re still in paganism – you still have the angry God that needs a human sacrifice. In God’s eyes, you’re either in paganism or you see the truth – Jesus died to show us the love of the Father. Just step out of the door of your house, look around you and I don’t care if they’re Catholic, Baptist, Muslim, Buddhist – they’re pagan, because they’re worshiping an angry God.
I want to close this study on that thought – and I know that what I have just said, for me, was a huge thing to grasp, but it makes so much sense. Either you worship the true God, or you don’t. At the end of the book, you’re either in "Babylon" or "New Jerusalem" – and Babylon was paganism – and I’ve said before, from paganism to Catholicism to Protestantism, they all have the same foundation: They’re serving a god that needed a human sacrifice before He could forgive. That is another reason why I know the Lord allowed that word "Babylon" to be at the end – its paganism. May we be ready to give the message – may I be ready to give the message. I pray that the Lord continue to cleanse me. I thank God for all He has helped me see. I thank God for all of you people who bring me an understanding of myself, and I pray to glorify God, and I pray that our "earth" not be hardened and bring forth the briars and thorns, but may we bring forth fruit unto Christ and truly, 1 Corinthians 13, the love of God, manifesting love, which simply means respect for the people around you – show them respect. Don’t act in an unbecoming way; don’t be puffed up – respect others in the love of Jesus Christ. May He be glorified! I pray these things be a reality to all of us, especially me.
